Tematem monografii jest badanie i opis sposobu organizacji informacji na poziomie ponadzdaniowym w dyskursie. Analizie poddano obie części dyskursu: tematyczną i rematyczną, a także relacje między jednostkami globalnych struktur informacyjnych określonymi jako segmenty tematyczne.

Praca skÅ‚ada siÄ™ z piÄ™ciu rozdziaÅ‚ów, z których pierwszy poÅ›wiÄ™cony jest podstawowym dla tematyki badaÅ„ pojÄ™ciom tekstu, dyskursu i reprezentacji dyskursywnej. W rozdziale tym omówiono problem spójnoÅ›ci tekstu, polisemiÄ™ terminu dyskurs oraz  pojÄ™cie reprezentacji dyskursywnej. - struktury, w których oprócz rematów wÅ‚asnych pojawiajÄ… siÄ™ też rematy zapożyczone, pochodzÄ…ce ze zbiorów rematycznych zależnych od różnych tematów czÄ…stkowych;

- struktury rematyczne o najwyższym stopniu zÅ‚ożonoÅ›ci, Å‚Ä…czÄ…ce trzy kategorie rematów: wÅ‚asne, wspólne i zapożyczone.

RozdziaÅ‚ ostatni dotyczy relacji miÄ™dzy segmentami tematycznymi, czyli jednostkami globalnej struktury informacyjnej dyskursu skÅ‚adajÄ…cymi siÄ™ z danego tematu czÄ…stkowego i zbioru rematów podporzÄ…dkowanych temu tematowi. Zaprezentowano w nim typologiÄ™ nawiÄ…zaÅ„ tematyczno-rematycznych i czysto rematycznych na poziomie ponadzdaniowym, dziÄ™ki którym  możliwy jest przepÅ‚yw informacji miÄ™dzy różnymi segmentami tematycznymi w dyskursie.
